| I’ve found myself smirking a lot this past week as God’s
been speaking to me in different ways. My heart has been encouraged, challenged
and touched as I’ve interacted with different people. The other day I recently
had a meal with an old friend and she was sharing with me how finances were
really tight due to her husband’s unexpected lay off. The way she responded to
this difficult circumstance left me smirking and greatly encouraged. She said
she really wanted God to use this time to teach her to find her security and
worth in Him and not anything else like money. She wanted to see her faith
grow. She said she wanted to experience God being more than enough for her and
that her trust in God would grow through this very process. I saw such beauty
in my friend’s response but more importantly, I saw Jesus in that
response.
I’ve been fortunate enough to take a short break in
leading a small group (until Sabrina comes back from Africa)
to be part of one and it’s been so refreshing. I can’t tell you how much I
enjoy being with my summer small group girls. After a long week of school, it’s
like a breath of fresh air spending time with them. We’re currently going
through a book called True Faced and we’ve learned a lot about being authentic
with one another and taking off our masks in front of each other. I find myself
smirking a lot during our meetings as I see the ladies taking risks by being
vulnerable with each other. We’ve learned that by being
honest and real with each other, it shows others that they too can share who they
really are without having to be in fear. By putting up our masks it only causes
others to do the same.
Another friend sent me an email yesterday. She was
sharing how God’s been so good to her and how he provided. Not just provided
but above and beyond what she expected. I knew things were really tough for her
with finances but she kept praying knowing that God would provide and He did. She
found an awesome job with a great group of people to work with around her age. She
has a great boss and great benefits too. She waited on God and she found her
dream job. I found myself smirking yet again.
To more smirking moments….

LORD.”

a great Sunday everyone! | | |
